Full course description
SmartMap is a self-paced education program with multiple learning modules that guide you through the use of smartphones and drone technology for mapping. Smartphones and drones, or unmanned aerial systems (UAS), are making geospatial technology more affordable, easy to use, and adaptable for a broader range of non-technical users. This course reviews available technology and provides step-by-step tutorials in using two GIS mapping applications for building maps. It also explores UAS technology for both aerial scouting and capturing up-to-date aerial imagery for use in mapping. This course offers a certificate of completion and, for a fee, Alabama forester and logger CEU credits.
